First Half of the trek is done through the Markha Valley where you will meet many people and come across villages, but the Second part is more wild and we will pass though the Kharnak region where the Nomads of Kharnak stay during the Harsh winter season, and the third part of the trek is through the Rupshow region were you will find nomadic people with their herds of Animal and we will come across 2 beautiful lake Tsokhar lake and Tsomoriri Lake.

  • 01

    Day

    Leh – Chilling to Skyu (3400m) 3hrs drive
    • Today we will drive from the Leh to Skyu village via Chilling village on the way we will see the confluence of Indus and Zanskar river and then later drive towards chilling and then cross the Newly bridge which was installed in 2018, earlier there uses to be a trolley where people on the other side pull the trolley and people use to cross the Zanskar river.

    Day

    Skyu(3400m) to Markha (3700m)
    • Day start with an easy walk following the right bank from Skyu . It is all green with plants of sea buckthorn; a very important medicinal plant visible in plenty. After crossing the river, you reach Chaluk and Tunespa Village. The landscape along the trail is wonderful mesmerizing you each and every time and finally you reach Markha. It is after this village that the valley has been named Markha Valley. It is walk of 8hrs.

    Day

    Markha (3700m) to Hangkar (4150m)
    • Today, you have several river crossings until you reach village Umlung. The monastery of the Umlung village is always closed as monks are busy in their work visiting the villages across the Markha Valley to perform prayers. It is a nice and easy walk to the next village Hanker with snow clad Kang Yaste(6400m) in the background standing majestically. The Castle of Hanker village is situated on a hill top but the condition of castle is dilapidated. You camp at Hangkar ( 4150m). It is a walk of 4 hrs.

    Day

    (5-6 hours) Hangkar to Zalung Karpo Base (4600m)
    • A relatively easy stage but an early start is recommended since the trail has several river crossings. You will be passing through the Hankar Valley and the trail leads further up till Zalung Karpo North Base.

    Day

    (6 hours) Zalung Karpo North Base to Kharnak Sumdo (4300) via Zalung Karpo Pass (5197m)
    • The trail ascends to Zalung Karpo Pass (5150m). Ascending steeply where the slope lessens following the main valley, you will reach the pass. On reaching you will be greeted by prayer flags and one of the best views in Ladakh, including the peaks of Kang Yaze and the rugged Zanskar Range. After savouring in the view, you will be descending till the junction where a diversion point makes another route to Zanskar via Junglam. Camp overnight at Kharnak Sumdo.

    Day

    (7-8 hours) Kharnak Sumdo to Dat (4323m)
    • An easy stage walking on a relatively flat, open and beautiful ground by the stream and some lush green meadows, you will reach the village of Dat. On the way look out for rare sightings of golden eagle and blue sheep. An old fort and a monastery greets on your arrival. You could visit the monastery and then camp overnight.

    Day

    (6 hours) Zalung Karpo North Base to Kharnak Sumdo (4300) via Zalung Karpo Pass (5197m)
    • At this stage you will be walking long hours over the open valley and the plains of Changthang. The landscape is also going to change from this stage onwards as you will be walking over the Yarla Pass and the Tibetan Plateau. The views from the Yar La pass is worth the experience. From the pass you will be descending to the pastures of Lungmoche.

    Day

    (6 hours) Lungmoche to Zara (4310m)
    • The last stage is a flat and easy trail along the flowing stream towards the nomadic settlements at Yagang and Zara.

    Day

    ( 6 Hrs) Zara to Pangu Nangu via cross the National Highway Leh – Manali
    • Well today it is going to be a hot day as you will be walking through Plains and feel like walking in Desert as there is no water around and we will cross the National Highway which connect Leh to Manali.

    Day

    Pangunangu to Nuruchen
    • After breakfast you enjoy sightseeing and birds watching around the Tsokar Lake. You trek along the lake and at the end of trail make a right and enter the Nuruchan valley. You enjoy overnight stay at camp.

    Day

    Nuruchen to Rachungkuru via Dungdung la pass
    • Today is an easy ascends take you around one hour and thirty minutes to the Dundunla Pass. On the upward ascend you can witness different wild flowers and enjoy photography. Before reaching the campsite you have to descend slowly following a narrow path along a stream.

    Day

    Rachungkuru to Gyamaloma
    • Today it’s quite challenging one day and indeed the longest day of the trek. Right after the campsite, you start ascending the Kyamaur la (5125 m). The top of the pass welcomes you with a heavenly view of Himalaya range, glittering in light. After crossing few streams, you lead towards another pass Gyama la (5100 m). After burning yourself for the whole day, our crew welcomes you with instant energy booster noodles to revive your energy at the campsite.

    Day

    Gyamaloma – Korzok
    • After having early breakfast, you march towards the korzok pass along with few streams crossing. From the top of pass, we can enjoy the mesmerizing view of western Tibetan peaks. The pass leads to korzok, which is the only settlement on the bank of Tsomoriri Lake. You halt overnight stay in camp. In the evening, you can visit korzok monastery, village and enjoy a short walk along the lake to cherish the beauty of world famous Tsomo Riri Lake.

    Day

    Korzok to leh 220 Kms 7 hrs drive via Chumathang and Mahey Bridge
    • Today, on the last day of the trek you bid goodbye Fare to pony man and other crew members before driving back to Leh. It is ride of 225kms from korzok to Leh. On the way, you visit Chumathang hot spring, a famous spot among Ladakhis. This spring water is very beneficial to people with pain in their joints or back. By evening, you reach Leh and our guide drop you off at you hotel.

Important Things You must know before the starts of the Trek

  • You must be well acclimatized before the start of the trek. As starting trek, without taking precaution leads to untoward incident.
  • You must bring warm clothes, good trekking shoes, Slipper for river crossing, Walking stick.
  • Sun cream is very important to protect your skin.
  • Sun glasses
  • Water bottle and water filter.

How is a usual day of Trekking?

Early in the morning you are serve bed tea in the tent with morning wishes. After bed tea, you start packing up your things. Breakfast is served in the dining tent. After breakfast, you are ready for the day. Guide walks with you but before living make sure your bag contains all the important things you need during the day like Camera, sun cream, water bottle, lunch box etc. You carry a light backpack containing all these important things required during the day and the other things come of the horse back. At noon, you stop for lunch at a nice location, and have some rest. Trek continues, and the horseman and kitchen staff leads you on the way. Before your arrival at the camp, our team would be ready tent and tea, juice and light snacks to refresh your tiredness. After the arrival at campsite, you can enjoy your leisure in your own way. The dinner is served around 7 in the evening. Post dinner, our guide brief you about the next day and decides the timing for next day with your insights and suggestions.

The food menu in breakfast, lunch and dinner keep switching from Indian, Tibetan, Chinese, Ladakhi, Continental, and Italian.
